East Coast Bound

As many of you already know, I will be traveling to NYC tomorrow for the exhibition and residency. The exhibition is at 319 Scholes in Brooklyn and is curated by Lindsay Howard. The show opens on Friday and concludes next Saturday with a humongous party that will be hyperlinked to Mexico City. How 21st Century is that? Lindsay and Ryder Ripps (dump's creator) have lots planned for the week that will be up that alley, so expect reports of goodness and weirdness. I will be in the city from tomorrow until Nov. 1, working on projects etc. and most likely updating here with pictures and amusing anecdotes. If you're one of my net buddies and you live in the area, shoot me an email and maybe we can get lunch or something.

In unrelated news, one of my designs is a finalist in Hyperallergic's T-shirt contest! If you haven't read Hyperallergic before, you come for the snark and stay for the relevancy. I'd appreciate any votes (one per day) that my Internet neighbors would be willing to share.

Lastly, I'm still looking for participants in the Human Kibble Winter 2010 Catalog...If you've thought about contributing and hesitated, go ahead and email me. This is not meant to be a big project to stress yourself out about, it's just a fun thing to do, and the cutoff date doesn't really mean much. Human Kibble defines itself based on your input, so give it a shot!

Information Conglomerations and Online Community

The most wonderful thing about the Internet is that it allows for enormous bodies of correlated information to be nearly seamlessly tied together through hyperlinks and localized cultures. The Internet is the latest, greatest, and most all-encompassing examples of large, organically-formed texts that has existed to date, but it is certainly not the first extensively hyperlinked crowd-sourced project. People love making and exploring large, dense conglomerations of related information. This essay discusses how information sources develop localized culture, methods that sustain culture after the fact, and the powerful effects of the world's biggest and best conglomeration.

Still looking for participants! Winter 2010 Human Kibble Catalog

This is the Catalog so far. The red areas are pages that have been claimed by GIF-makers in the project. As you can see, we're already pretty far into the project, but we still need participants to claim up the rest of the pages. If you would like to contribute a little of your time to making this project a success, head on over to the site, choose two available pages, and shoot me an email! There's no rush to finish because I'm hoping everything will be complete by November 1, but the sooner you claim your pages the better your choice of pages will be.

If you're a seasoned Giffer (pronounced "Giffer" or "Jiffer?") looking to show off a bit, you should jump right in because this is your opportunity to shine. All of the completed work I've seen so far is going to knock your socks off, and it feels great to be part of a solid body of work.

Open Call for Time's 2006 Person of the Year

I'm looking for participants in a new project: assembling a GIF catalog. Head on over to to check things out. Read the rules, ask any questions here. I think this could be a lot of fun.

3 new pages

My trip in August to Alpha World, the net's first successful Metaverse.

Experiments in being boring.

Stupid CSS/HTML tricks. Older computers (like mine) should not visit this page.
